    <descript>
This feature class represents the boundaries between map units as depicted in the MapUnitPolys feature class, and key beds, dikes, and faults within map units, all held within this geodatabase. The attributes of this feature allow the authors to indicate their confidence in the identification and existence of geologic contacts, faults, key beds, and dikes. This geodatabase contains cartographic representations for line symbols from Sections 1 and 2 of FGDC Digital Cartographic Standard for Geologic Map Symbolization (FGDC Document Number FGDC-STD-013-2006).
      <purpose>The vector lines in this feature class provide contact and geologic content for contact, key bed, dike, and fault segment locations. Vector lines from DOGAMI maps published between 2009 and 2014 were used to create the map unit polygon boundaries for those studies. The remaining vector lines were generated from the MapUnitPolys feature class that was previously digitized from older maps. </purpose>

The attribute “-9999” was used for unknown values and -9 was used for no data, these values apply to the contacts created in this project from the MapUnitPolys feature class in OGDC-6. Additional, existing topology error have been recognized but were not corrected for this edition of the dataset. Tests for logical consistency were performed by ArcGIS Topology software. All points, lines, and polygons were visually checked, and are labelled correctly.</logic>
    <complete>This dataset only includes information located in the state of Oregon as defined by the Bureau of Land Managements, Oregon State Boundaries - 2001. Select vector lines from the Contacts and Faults feature classes in OGDC-6 were corrected in order to adhere to the topology rules for GeMS. In the process of combining Contacts and Faults some segments of contact lines were removed where they were overlapped by faults. It was beyond the project scope to add additional known features and attributes from the original maps used in OGDC-6. Known attribute errors like misspellings, missmatched Type to FGDC code, Null and 0 values, etc. were not addressed in this project.</complete>

        <procdesc>The following topology checks were performed on the Contacts, Faults, and MapUnitPoly feature classes in the OGDC_v6.gdb. The following topology rules using Esri ArcGIS 10.6 for desktop were used. Rule 1: MapUnitPolys must not have gaps. Rule 2: MapUnitPolys must not overlap. Rule 3: Contacts must not overlap. Rule 4: Contacts must not have dangles. Rule 5: Contacts must not self-overlap. Rule 6: Contacts must not self-intersect. Rule 7: Faults must not overlap with (contacts). Rule 8: Faults must not self-overlap. Rule 9: Faults must not self-intersect. Rule 10: Faults must not have dangles. Rule 11: Faults must be single part. Rule 12: Folds must not self-intersect. Rule 13: Folds must not self-overlap.</procdesc>
        <procdesc>DOGAMI created the ContactsAndFaults feature class from OGDC-6 Contacts, Faults, and MapUnitPolys feature classes. Once the MapUnitPolys were topologically correct they were used as an input to create contact lines using the ESRI ArcGIS Polygon to Line tool. Then the existing contacts and faults were stamped into the ContactsAndFaults feature class. Contact segments that were overlapped by faults were removed using the ESRI ArcGIS Erase tool. Existing attributes in the Contacts and Faults feature classes were copied over directly as is. Contacts created from the MapUnitPolys were attributed using the GeMS Tools for Arc10.5, Attribute by Key Values script.</procdesc>
        <procdesc>Lineage maps were used to scribe geologic features and attributes, e.g., bedding, faults, and folds. References citations used for this compilation can be found in the DataSources table.</procdesc>
