Description:

Abstract:: The Imbler quadrangle covers the northern end of the Grande Ronde Valley in northeastern Oregon. Geologic data were collected at 1:24,000 scale and combine new mapping with published and unpublished data from air photos, orthophotoquads, and USGS digital elevation model (DEM) grids. Mapping was supplemented with X-ray fluourescence (XRF) geochemical analyses, and potassium\argon radiometric age determinations. Surficial deposits, subsurface sedimentary deposits, and volcanic rocks are delineated in the Imbler quadrangle. The area's geology provides a record of 17 million years of volcanic and associated tectonic activity.
Purpose:: To provide geologic mapping for the Imbler, OR 7½' quadrangle. This map is released as an interim product as part of a larger mapping project of the Upper Grande Ronde River Basin.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report:: The attribute accuracy was tested through a series of database queries and cross checks with author-submitted material.

Logical_Consistency_Report:

Dataset topology was established by using the MapInfo application Geometry Manager. Polygon slivers and duplicate elements were corrected through repeated runs of Geometry Manager, followed by editing the resulting spatial dataset.

Process_Description:: The spatial databases in this publication were compiled in MapInfo geographic information system software v. 6.0. Polygon boundaries and fault lines were digitized on screen by the author from field map manuscripts. Authors datasets were reviewed for completeness and consistency. Topologic cleanup was performed prior to final publication release.
