Information on the geologic mapping of Oregon published in the past 81 years is now available in a new publication of the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI). The Department announces the publication of Index to Published Geologic Mapping in Oregon 1898-1979, DOGAMI Geological Map Series publication GMS-14, by C.A. Schumacher of the DOGAMI cartography section. The index is prepared as a six-plate set of colored maps, each map showing the state, counties, and topographic quadrangle index of Oregon at a scale of 1:1,000,000. The compilation contains about 450 references of geologic maps, many of them only parts of publications and listed separately now for the first time. Each map contains the bibliographic listing and shows location and areal extent of the referenced items. Plates I-III contain the references to publications by DOGAMI; Plates IV and V list ground-water and geophysical mapping, respectively, and Plate VI miscellaneous items. The new publication replaces, expands, and updates an earlier index published by DOGAMI in 1968 as Miscellaneous Paper 12.
